War in the backyard!

Tonight honey and I were sitting in the back yard relaxing after watering the trees and flowers. When all of a sudden there were about 15-20 hummers flying, buzzing and making war among themselves. We have 3 pot of food for the hummers but we noticed that at one of the feeders one lone female would drink from the pot and then sit on a branch just at the side of it. When another hummer came up to feed, that lady would just buzz him, fight him and chase him away. We laughed and laughed, then one   came at us and buzzed close to us. I suppose they didn't like the laughing. I could not count how many there were and the antics, zooming in and around was just hilarious to watch and so fascinating . How we enjoyed watching them...made us laugh and enjoy the evening. It is still hot somewhat humid  but enjoyable...God has placed His creation at our disposal to enjoy,.forget our problems for awhile.
We went to Decatur Spring Ave Church of the Nazarene for a special singing service. The Ken Apple Family. I found out that they are in their 80s and still traveling and singing. WOW! they are good singers.
We had some wonderful food at the church. The people were so gracious to us...we pastored the church there for about 6 years and that is where we retired from...
I remember one time when we pastored in Florence Al where there were many older ladies who thought it was their duty to feed us now and then. Now imagine 3 young children having to eat at their home after church, could not go outside to run and play but have to sit and eat...well one of them invited us and I had put her off so many time that I felt terrible and therefore I accepted. I warned the children not to take much food and that I would get them something when we got home that they did like. She had prepared macaroni and cheese...and that was Vann's favorite..I WARNED HIM!!! Do not take very much.I had a rule, if you put it on your plate then you had to eat it. They had the choice...either not take it or eat what you took...She had soaked the macaroni in water while we  were at church and I watched her drain that macaroni and added some cut up cheese....When Vann saw the dish , he lit in, I warned him again with my eyes and hands but to no avail, he took a pile!!! I felt so sorry for him that I quietly told him  to push it around on his plate and he didn't have to eat all..Sorry, my mothers heart would not let him suffer....we laughed and laughed when we got to the car and  then home...another lady would  always want us to eat when we visited her home...and the place was not clean at all and there would be food on the table with mold on it...we always denied graciously ....
Most of the time we had very good cooks in our churches. One time in Las Cruses I had undergone surgery and one of the ladies fixed honey a huge steak, baked potato, salad and a big glass of ice tea...well can you  imagine me just back to bed from the recovery room, so nauseated and not feeling too well..and him eating that pile of food..I just cried and said "get out of here you are making me sick" he did put it up...I laughed later but not then.....
This is what memories those hummers brought to my mind...thanks for listening grandpa love you J

Oh, this is so funny about the food! I remember well being invited to eat at someone's house; and at that time I had a weak stomach. I still can't eat certain foods because of what we had to eat. Mom and Dad always made us eat when we would go, like it or not, even with the animals running around and jumping on the counters or table where the food was! I hated that! Others, as you say, had very good food. I know you did at your house!

I don't think I knew what you had to endure until I was in the pastorate....I think we will have a special place in heaven for those "who suffer at the hands of the parishioners"!!! lol lol
I am glad we can laugh now and enjoy the past!!!
Thank you for your insight....
